DIGONNO, Antonio D. "Tony" Sr. age 81 of Hamilton, died Friday, June 24, 2011. On August 15, 1929 a great man was born, Antonio Digonno, Sr. He was the youngest of nine children born to Nicola and Teresa (Ricci) Digonno. Both Nicola and Teresa were immigrants from Italy. They came to the United States to live the American Dream.
Antonio was the youngest of 9 children. He had 4 brothers, Theodore, Nicholas, Pasquale and Johnny. He had 4 sisters, Susie, Molly, Yolanda, and Rose.
Antonio proudly served his country during the Korean War in the Navy. He retired from Fisher Body a division of GM. He was a well known plumber in the Hamilton and Fairfield area.
Antonio was united in marriage to Elizabeth Rose and to this union 2 sons were born, Antonio, Jr. and John Michael.
Antonio is survived by his beloved daughter-in-law Ruby Digonno; loving son Antonio D. Digonno, Jr. "Little Tony" ; three grand daughters, Nichole and Phillip Trumbull, Katie Digonno and Johna Digonno, all of Hamilton, OH; two great-grandchildren, Julia and Noah Trumbull of Hamilton, Ohio; nephews, Nick Digonno, Ronnie Gardner, Nick Gabbard all of Hamilton, OH and Chuck Peck of Dayton, OH and Paul Digonno of Mesa, AZ and Theodore Digonno, Jr. of California; Nieces , Darlene Howery of Oxnard, CA, Sally Miller of Belmont, OH, Judy Bowling of Hamilton, OH, Carol Snowden, Joann Krall, Lavone Sulfridge all of Fairfield, OH and Barbara Vogelsong of St. Petersburg, FL, and Patty Trauthwein of Jacksonville, Florida; special friends: The family of James Pate of Hamilton, OH, Liz Phipps of West Liberty, KY, Allen Fishwick of Liberty TWP, OH.
Antonio was preceded in death by his son John Michael Digonno; his brothers, Pasquale, Theodore, Johnny, and Nicholas Digonno; his Sisters, Susie Gardner, Yolanda Peck, Molly Minton, and Rose Gabbard. He enjoyed a close relationship with his entire family.
Prayers will be offered at 9:30am Wednesday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Wednesday in St Julie Billiart Church with Fr. Michael Pucke celebrant. Visitation will be from 6-8:00pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Children's Hospital B.M.T.
