Barbara Ellis was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world after an
extended illness on Friday March 4 th, 2022 at age 86 surrounded by all those she loved including her
husband, children and grandchildren.
She was born to Van Camp and Dorothy Luman on November 30, 1935 one of three children including
Douglas and Betty. Barbara was born in Lindenwald and remained in Hamilton for the remainder of her
life. She married John D. Ellis on December 8 th , 1954 whom she met while he was on leave from the
Navy. She spent the next 67 years of her life as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great
grandmother to John and their 4 children Kim, Greg, Karen and Kathy, 4 grandchildren including John,
Rachel, Jeremy, and Kari and 3 great grandchildren Reed, Rhett and Briana. It is through their lives that
Barbara's love lives on.
Barbara is survived by her husband John D. Ellis, two siblings including Betty (Jerry) Heinrich and Douglas
(Judith) Luman, four children including Kimberly L. Abner, Gregory D. (Donna) Ellis, Karen E. (Timothy)
Lucisano, and Kathleen A. Simkow, three grandchildren including John D. (Shawna) Ellis II, Rachel L.
(Ryan) Oliver, and Kari Jane Ellis , three great grandchildren including Briana Simkow, Reed Oliver and
Rhett Oliver.
She is succeeded in death by parents Van Camp and Dorothy (Nieberlein) Luman, one son in law
Timothy Abner and one grandson Jeremy Simkow.
Funeral services will be Friday March 11, 2022 in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed
by burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00pm Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of
flowers, please donate to the Hospice of Cincinnati on her behalf.
