Barbara Kay
Hazelwood
November 27, 1961 – July 23, 2023
HAZELWOOD, Barbara Kay age 62
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we come together to bid farewell to our beloved Barbara Hazelwood, who tragically and unexpectedly passed away on July 23, 2023. Barbara's sudden departure has left us all in shock and mourning, as we try to come to terms with the loss of a truly remarkable individual.
Barbara's life was a tapestry of love, resilience, and kindness that touched the hearts of all who knew her. She was born to Sheridan and Lola (cox) Bowman, and though they have gone before her, their love and guidance have shaped the woman she became. After losing her birth parents at a young age, Barbara was embraced by Bill and Helen Hazelwood, who lovingly welcomed her into their home, providing her with a nurturing environment and a sense of belonging that she cherished throughout her life.
Barbara's legacy of love and devotion lives on through her cherished family, who meant the world to her. She leaves behind her children, Eddie (Jolena) Hollin, Jeremy & Jamie Thompson, Amy Perkins, and Larry (Ashley) Hazelwood, who were the center of her universe and brought immense joy to her life. Her love extended to her precious grandchildren: Hailey, Brooklyn, Camden Hollin; Jordan, Venessa Bravo; Alondra Martinez; Cameron, Carson, Carter Hazelwood; Alicia Pennington,Joshua, Annabelle & Ethan Thompson and Brooke Bowling. Barbara cherished each one, and they held a special place in her heart.
In her journey through life, Barbara experienced both the joy of companionship and the sorrow of loss. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Duke, Ronald, Gary Sr, Delores, and Wayne Bowman, along with Edna Riley and Joann Langdon. Though they have passed on, the memories they shared will forever be cherished
As an adopted member of the Hazelwood family, Barbara formed unbreakable bonds with Kenneth, Danny,Gail Sheehan and Willa Hazelwood. Their camaraderie brought a unique and profound sense of belonging to her life. Alongside her surviving siblings, Alece Underwood, Sally Kash, and Ernest Bowman, they formed a support network that carried her through the trials of life.
Barbara's spirit of playfulness and togetherness was evident in her love for games and spending time with family. Whether it was sharing laughter over computer games, gathering for special occasions, or simply enjoying each other's company, Barbara found joy in the simple moments spent with her loved ones.
As we come together to celebrate the life of Barbara Hazelwood, we fondly remember the special connections she shared with her family, including her beloved niece, Alverta underwood along with many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews
As we gather to celebrate her life, let us remember her as the beacon of love and strength that she was. May her memory inspire us to cherish our own loved ones, to embrace the value of family, and to live our lives with the same kindness and compassion that she exemplified.
In this time of profound sorrow, we find solace in knowing that Barbara's legacy of love will forever endure in the hearts of all who were touched by her presence. May she rest in eternal peace. The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00pm Thursday August 3, 2023 in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by a Memorial Service at 5:00pm.
