Gudenkauf, Bernard Joseph Jr. "Barry" passed away peacefully Friday Oct. 31st 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield. He was born April 5, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio to Bernard J. and Mildred (Hess) Gudenkauf.
He graduated from Las Cruces H.S., New Mexico in 1965. He went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army where he completed two tours in Turkey and spent time at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts. A 1973 graduate of Xavier University, he completed a B.S. in Communication. He was an active member of the Fairfield Fire Department from 1970 to 1988.
As an organist, his passion for music allowed him to reach people on a deeply religious level. He played for various parishes throughout Cincinnati including Sacred Heart, St. Joseph and St. Louis Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mildred and brother, Bruce Gudenkauf. He is survived by his father, Bernard J. Gudenkauf, Sr.; his son, Matthew A. Gudenkauf; daughter, Christine E. Gudenkauf; daughter, Michelle D. Spinazzola; two grandchildren; the mother of his children, Martha S. (Kurtz) Salyers, and girlfriend Jawn Worthington. Barry has touched many lives and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home. Prayers will be offered at 9:30 AM Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., following the Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM Thursday in Sacred Heart Church.
