KERNOHAN, Betty (Merz)
Age 82 of Hamilton passed away Monday, February 19, 2007 at Fort Hamilton Hospital. She was born August 14, 1924 in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Elsie Merz. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1941.
She worked for many years in the Hamilton school system first at Roosevelt Junior High and later at Garfield Middle School before retiring.
In 1948 she married Hugh Kernohan and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage. They had many happy years together and enjoyed following the lives of their children and grandchildren. She was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching and reading about sports. She was a very compassionate and giving person who devoted her
life to her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her two children Carole (Vince) Jolivette and Jim (Janet) Kernohan. She leaves her grandchildren Kevin (Sylvia) Kernohan, Kelly (Ryan) Johnson, and Kristy Kernohan, and two great grandchildren Will Kernohan and Emma Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
She will be greatly missed by all of her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., with Rev. Grant Montgomery officiating, followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2:00pm Thursday in the funeral home.
