Obituary

GLASMEIER, Carl G. age 89 of Fairfield died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 30, 1922, the son of Lawrence and Anna (Boerger) Glasmeier and was a 1940 graduate of Hamilton High School. On October 14, 1950, in St. Margaret Mary Church in North College Hill he married Ruth Mary Rieman, and she preceded him in death on January 25, 2009. Mr. Glasmeier was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp serving during WWII in Europe, with the 100th Bomb Group, where he earned the Purple Heart and became a P.O.W. Carl worked as a foreman for Diebold Inc. retiring in 1986 after 45 years of service. He was a charter member of Sacred Heart Church where he served as an usher, and was member of the VFW Post # 1069. An avid bowler, he also enjoyed gardening and watching the Cincinnati Reds.

Survivors include five children, Steve (Vicki) Glasmeier; Jane Tobergte; Jim (Anita) Glasmeier; Mary (Dave) Mainwaring; John (Karen) Glasmeier, all of Fairfield; eleven grandchildren, Beth(Justin) Bisig, Susan(Chris) Wood, Megan(Jason) Hubbard, Sarah and Jon Tobergte, Lauren and Kirsten Glasmeier, Sam and Emma Mainwaring, Carly and Rachel Glasmeier; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Barbara) Glasmeier; a sister Alma Raab.

Besides his wife, Ruth, he was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 2:00pm Monday in Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Rd. Fairfield, Ohio 45014 with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12noon-2:00pm Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Church Landscaping Fund. Zettler Funeral home serving the family.
