Charles Eugene
Gordon
February 6, 1945 – May 9, 2026
Charles “Chuck” Gordon, age 81, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Chuck lived a full and joyful life marked by laughter, adventure, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Chuck shared 58 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dorothy “Dotty” Gordon, who was his constant companion, partner, and best friend. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and cherished traditions.
He leaves behind two children, Greg (Dawn) Gordon and Debbie (Mark) Gerstner, who carry forward his values, humor, and love of life. Chuck was especially proud of his five grandsons—Alex (Delaney) Gordon, Andrew Gordon, Isaac Gordon, Trevor Gerstner, and Devin Gerstner—each of whom brought him tremendous joy. Whether cheering from the sidelines at soccer games, tennis matches, and gymnastics meets or taking them on adventures in golf carts and jet skis, Chuck relished every moment spent with them.
Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie “Jean” Gordon, his father George Gordon Jr. and his sister, Carol (Ken) Grove. He is survived by his brother Jerry (Patty) Gordon and his sister Connie (Dan) Danford, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Chuck retired from AK Steel after 35 years of service. Outside of work, he found happiness in the simple things—often heard whistling or singing as he went about his day, bringing a sense of warmth wherever he went. He had a natural gift for humor, always ready with a wisecrack or joke that could lighten any situation.
Chuck enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing trips where he proudly taught his children and grandchildren the art of collecting worms before casting a line. Known for his playful and adventurous spirit, he was never afraid to make a splash—whether performing flips off cliffs at Lake Cumberland or his signature “butt-dive” off diving boards, a stunt that even earned him a whistle from his own lifeguard grandson.
Chuck’s life was defined by love, laughter, and a deep commitment to family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit lives on in the countless stories, traditions, and joyful memories he leaves behind. His legacy is one of warmth, humor, and a life well lived—a gift that will continue to inspire his family for generations to come.
A private memorial will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Chuck’s name to Queen City Hospice or St. Julie Billiart Parish. In his memory we also ask that you get together with your family to play a game of cards, go fishing, or just take a walk with those that you love.
