MIGNERY, Charles E. age 85 of Fairfield, Ohio died at 10:05 p.m. on Sunday June 27th at the Chesterwood Nursing Care Facility in West Chester, Ohio. He was born on February 7th, 1925 in Hamilton, Ohio. Chuck as he was known was the son of Francis Agnes (Hall) and Edward LeRoy Mignery. He was educated at St. Ann's Elementary and graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School and was of the class of 1944. He was elected as the football team captain for his junior and senior year. He also attended Texas Tech University. Chuck left high school missed his senior year in order to join the Army Air Corp in 1943, and flew 35 bombing missions over Germany as a radio operator and Tech Sergeant in a B-17 in the 379th Bomb Group. He was very proud to have served his country! On June 7, 1947 he married Ruth Marie Riegert at St. Ann's Catholic
Church. Chuck was a proud 63 year member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and served as a Business Manager for many years in locals 108 and 113, and a member of 392. He was a past voting member of the Butler County Bd. of Elections and Central Committee of the Democratic Party. He was a founding member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and of the City of Fairfield living at the same address since 1953. Chuck was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 968 for over 60 years and served as a Grand Knight. He was a member of the VFW, AMVETS, served as an umpire for 17 years in the Fairfield Little League, coached in the CYO football program many years. He was proud to have travelled to 49 states minus Maine, loved playing cards with his poker club of over 50 years and pitch buddies. He was a past 1993 pitch game champion of Butler County.
He is survived by his six children and 40 grandchildren, Son Michael (Mary Jo) Mignery, grandchildren Ben, Sarah, Mark, Anna Marie, and Katherine, great grandchildren Sophia, Elaina, Claire, Caroline, Luke, Dominic, Rebekah and Drew, son Edward (Christine) Mignery, grandchildren Allison, Alexander and Andrew, great grandchildren, Devin, Madeline, Mason, Bryson. Daughter Mary Lee Dixon, grandchildren Amanda and Beth, great grandchildren Isabella, Addison, and Blake, son Steven (Debbie) Mignery, grandchildren Kellie, Lisa, and Jillian, great grandchildren Olivia, Brandon, and Joey, son Charles Jr. (Michelle) Mignery, grandchildren Rosemary, Grace, James and Patrick, son Thomas (Kathy) Mignery, grandchildren Matthew, Jack, and William. He is survived by his brother in laws Joe Spadafora, Mike (Lori) Riegert, Bill (Grace) Riegert, sisters in laws, Helen (Gene) Beer, Dee Riegert, Rosemary (James) Schindler, Elizabeth (Lewis) Kunzler, Joan Leugers, and Barbara Riegert, and numerous nephews and nieces, and especially his beloved friend Elaine Tegge and her family.
Chuck was preceded in death by his Grandparents Alexander and Sarah (Lancaster) Hall, James and Clara (Geatty) Mignerey, his parents Edward and Francis (Hall) Mignery, brother Jimmy and wife Helen, sister Ruth and husband Jim Cunningham, sister Margorie Spadafora, Sister Helen and husband Bob Cahalane, granddaughter Frances Mignery, and brother in laws, Dick Wolf, Dan Brosius, David Riegert, Ned Riegert, and Dick Riegert.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the caregivers of Chesterwood Nursing Care facility, the Dixon family, Ft. Hamilton Hospital, and Drs. Pawel, and Deborah Hauger.
Prayers will be offered at 9:30 am Thursday, in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, in Sacred Heart Church. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 pm Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be given to the Badin High School Scholarship Fund.
