Obituary

Charles (Charlie) Reynolds, age 97 of Lakeport, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 22, 2026. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on August 11, 1929, the son of Floyd and Annie Reynolds. Charlie served his country as a member of the National Guard and, subsequently, his local community as a deputy for the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. Charlie went on to become the owner and operator of Reynolds Painting Company in Hamilton, OH until his retirement in 1984.

On November 9, 1966, Charlie married the love of his life, Lois Reynolds, in Hamilton, Ohio. Together, they ran Reynolds Painting Company and built a life filled with love and devotion for both their children and each other. Upon retirement, Charlie and Lois moved to Lakeport, Florida, where Charlie put his love of fishing to good use becoming a fishing guide on Lake Okeechobee. When he wasn’t on the lake, Charlie enjoyed spending time with friends and family near and far. While enjoying retirement in Florida, Charlie never forgot about his friends and family in Ohio. During his yearly Ohio trips, Charlie kept himself busy visiting and catching up with his family and friends, making full use of his time with those he loved.

Charlie’s passing leaves a large hole in the lives of those who love him and he will be dearly missed, but we take comfort knowing he has reunited with Lois and, together, they look over those of us left behind.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Annie Reynolds, his wife Lois (Engel) Reynolds. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Don Reynolds (Helen), his sister Roberta, and sons Mike Reynolds and Ronnie McCroskey. Charlie is survived by his two daughters Bonnie Thornton (Chuck) of Okeechobee, Florida and Sharon Haferkamp (Rick) of West Chester, Ohio; four grandchildren Chris Cummins, Shannon Haferkamp-Elgin, Jesse Haferkamp (Tabitha), and Chrissy McCroskey; and several great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Monday, November 2, 2026 from 10:00-11:00am in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Nov 2 2026, also in the Zettler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
