DICK, Daryel W. age 67 of Hamilton died Wednesday, march 11, 2015, at his home. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 7, 1947, the son of Lloyd and Fayerene (Haggard) Dick. Mr. Dick started his career at L & D Builders which was his fathers business. There he learned the skills he needed to be a master craftsman. They built custom homes. He then brought his own sons into the business and made sure they learned everything they needed to. Throughout his life, Dick held other jobs mostly in the construction field and was also a truck driver. Until the end, he was working at Wayne's Garage. He always had the same work ethic as his father who believed if you woke up that day, you went to work. Two of Daryel's favorite hobbies were racing and boating. He raced in a lot of different classes over the years in quite a few states including Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Florida and even Canada. Mr. Dick won the track championship at Tri-County Speedway in 1972 in the Rat Racer division, and then in 1987, he won the championship in the Mini-Stock division at Brown County Speedway. His love of racing carried over to a lot of his children also. Dick's sons Kevin and Timmy race cars also and Kevin picked Daryel's first car number 24 for his own car. Their younger brother Gary was there for them as part of the pit crew. For boating he loved being out on a lake. When his 6 children were young they would spend a lot of their free time boating, water skiing, and tubing. This is some of their greatest memories! Jeff was the best at water skiing and Daryel could trust that he would stay up on those skis as long as he needed him to. Tammy loved tubing and she learned to hold on for dear life because Daryel would start doing doughnuts in the middle of the lake if she held on longer than he thought she should so the next child could have a turn!
He is survived by five children, Kevin, Jennifer, Tammy, Timothy, and Gary; seventeen grandchildren, Brienne, Courtney, Tiffany, Jessica, Jericha, Jeffery, Melissa, Rachel, Caroline, Jeffrey, Lauren, Alexis, Gary Jr., Brittany, Travis, Brandon, and David; four great-grandchildren, Peyton, Kavial, RyLynn, and Charlee; a brother, Donald Dick.
He is preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Dick; a grandson, Gary Dick Jr.
