David Charles
Haas
June 21, 1943 – October 13, 2022
HAAS, David Charles age 79 of Hamilton, Ohio passed away Thursday October 13, 2022 in the Berkeley
Square Retirement Community. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 21, 1943 the son of Cletus and
Agnes (Buckreus) Haas and was a 1961 graduate of Elder High School. On September 26, 1964
he married Jane Sandman.
In 1973 David earned a Bachelor of Science in business from the University of Cincinnati Evening College.
He worked for the OPW Division of the Dover Corporation for 42 years. While employed as a salesman
for them, his career moved the family to California, Minnesota and back to Ohio where they settled in
West Chester. His career took him all over the world.
David retired to Lake Santee in Greensburg Indiana in 2000. There he enjoyed his time boating, fishing
and golfing. After retirement, he volunteered with many Civic organizations including the Parks Board,
Lake Santee Water Board and the Decatur County Arts and Cultural Council. In 2015, David and Jane
moved to The Villages in Florida. They resided in the Bonnybrook neighborhood. While there they
enjoyed a life of sun and avoiding hurricanes.
Once David was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in June 2019, he and Jane made the decision to
return to Ohio. In the tradition of no move being without problems, they moved to Berkeley Square
Retirement Campus during the Covid lockdown of 2020.
He fought Lewy Body Dementia as long as his body and spirit would allow.
Rest in Peace my love - Jane
