MURPHY, Dennis Patrick
Age 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home in St. Petersburg, Florida, from a heart attack on May 24, 2018. Dennis was born on 8/14/1952, the 4th of 11 children born to the late Neil & Marie (Werner) Murphy. He grew-up in Millville, Ohio, attending Queen of Peace Elementary School and then graduating from Badin High School in 1970 where at 6'6" he excelled at basketball, earning him a full scholarship to Thomas More College in Kentucky. Unfortunately, his college basketball career was cut short early into his sophomore year, due to a motorcycle accident. After recovering from that accident, he and his brother Stephen built a house together in Hamilton. At age 22, Dennis moved to Florida where he went into the used car business, eventually owning and operating the largest, independently-owned used car dealership in St. Petersburg. He later began a very successful home remodeling business doing work on various homes in the St. Petersburg area, as well as in Vail, Colorado, and Forest Hill, Maryland. Dennis is survived by a son, Sean (Valentina), and grandson, Damon, who reside in Italy, as well as his 10 brothers and sisters: Stephen, David (Phyllis), Kathleen, Mary (Ronnie) Asher, Anthony (Mary), Eileen, Colleen (Kerry) Rowland, Neil (aka Nicky), Robert, and Cecilia (Ricky) Temple. Dennis' body was cremated. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of his family.
