MOTZER, Dolores C., Age 91, of Hamilton, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Westover Retirement Center. Dolores was born June 24, 1921, a daughter of Frank and Clara (Dornberger) Hessler and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School with the class of 1939. On April 17, 1945, in St. Ann Church, she married Louis W. Motzer and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2003, after 57 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church.
She leaves behind two daughters, Mary Lou Metz of Cincinnati, and Susan A. (Michael) Kihm of
Hamilton, and one son, Timothy L. Motzer of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Metz, Suzanne Martin, Julie Metz and Jeffrey (Katherine) Kihm, all of Cincinnati, Daniel Kihm of Atlanta, Georgia, and John Kihm of Coral Gables, Florida, and three great grandchildren, Austin, Ava and Lauren Kihm. Also left to mourn her loss are one brother, Frank (Shirley) Hessler; and two sisters, Ruth Ann Beckman and Mary Lou Cox; a sister-in-law, Hilda Hessler, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Dolores was widely known, for a short time in her younger years, for singing with the Mehas Big Band, and for all her life as being able to play the piano by ear up until a few months before her passing. Her other passion was becoming an LPN at the age of 50 and working until her retirement for doctors John
Evans, Richard Zettler, and Richard Burkhardt at Linden Medical Group in Lindenwald.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold (Lavina),
Robert "Sug" (Fran), Lawrence (Kate) and Ralph Hessler; a son-in law Rowland Metz; two
brothers-in-law, William Cox and Fred Beckman.
The family would like to thank employees of Westover Retirement, Fitton Wing, for their excellent care-giving and also Vitas Hospice.
Prayers will be offered at 9:30am Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Thursday in St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, Ridgelawn & Liberty Avenues. Visitation will be from 5-8:00pm Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to: Stephen T.
