CISLE, Don S. Jr., age 82 of Hamilton, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007 at Berkley Square. He was born on September 14, 1924, at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, the
Son of Mary Welsh Cisle and Don S. Cisle, Sr. Attended St. Stephen Grade School, Roosevelt Junior High School and he graduated from Hamilton High School in 1942 and from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1947. Mr. Cisle served in the United States Navy for 37 months as a naval midshipmen and naval officer. Seventeen months were spent in the South Pacific, New Guinea and the Philippine Islands.
Upon returning to Hamilton after graduation from Notre Dame in 1947, he joined his father in the highway construction company, Don S. Cisle Construction, Inc., specializing in asphalt paving in southern Ohio, including Butler, Warren, Hamilton, Montgomery and Greene Counties. He became General Manager in 1955 and was named President in 1960. The firm was instrumental in construction of highways throughout southwest Ohio.
In November 1949, he married Marian Hetterich in St. Peter's Church in Hamilton. They have four children: Anne Cisle Murray (her husband Stephen Murray); Donald M. Cisle (his wife Debbie); Susan Cisle Goodman (her husband Mark) and Patricia Cisle; and ten grandchildren: Patricia Murray, Daniel Murray, Mac Murray, Don M. Cisle, Jr., Christine Cisle, Mary Goodman, Anne Goodman, Patrick Storen, Kathleen Storen and Michael Storen; two sisters, Patricia Lehmkuhl and Jane Laumann, and a brother-in-law, Bob Laumann, all of Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years in 1996.
He was the past President of the Hamilton City Club, a member of the Board of Directors of First National Bank of Southwestern Ohio from 1961 until 1994, a Director of Columbia Federal Savings & Loan from 1957 until 1983, a member of the Board of Directors of the Ohio Contractors Association from 1971 until 1975, past President of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, member of St. Peter's Church, BPOE #93, and the American Legion. Don was a long-time and devoted supporter of the Notre Dame football program, and traveled throughout the United States to attend games, including the Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Cotton Bowl and Gator Bowl. Don traveled extensively in the United States and made 11 trips to Europe. He especially enjoyed his visits to his home in Naples, Florida during the winter months.
Prayers will be offered at 9:30am Friday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am Friday in St. Peter in Chains Church. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 pm Thursday in the funeral home. Entombment will be at St. Stephen Mausoleum.
