SIMMONS, Donald R. age 87 of Hamilton passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at his home. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on September 10, 1931, the son of Roy and Jessie (Sroufe) Simmons, 1950 Hamilton High School graduate and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean War. On June 18, 1952 he married Lenore Grillo. Mr. Simmons worked for Fisher Body Hamilton Plant as a pattern maker for 30 years and RMT Construction for 15 years.  He was a member of St. Ann Church.

Donald was active in Lindenwald youth baseball where he managed 7 seasons with 6 championships for a record of 85 wins and 18 losses.  His love for golf resulted in 4 holes in one and he obtained his passion for racing from his father Roy who trained horses.  His biggest love was spending time with his children, grandchildren and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Lenore; two children, Randy (Jodi) Simmons and Linda (Doug) Woods; six grandchildren; Sarah, Elizabeth (Daniel), Joseph, Jay, Meghan and Erinn; great-grandchild, Grace; a sister-in-law, Lucille Simmons.  He was preceded in the death by his parents: brothers, Wilbur, Orville, Thomas, Russell, Willard, Raymond, Eugene, Robert and sisters, Dorothy, Margaret, Helen, Marion and Irma and daughter in law Ginny Simmons.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Friday in the funeral home.
