GREBNER, Edward F. age 93 of Fairfield died Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at West Chester Medical Center. He was born on January 5, 1916, the son of Edward W. and Elizabeth (Wiesmann) Grebner, and was a 1934 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School. On May 1, 1948 in St. Ann Church, he married Anna Mae Harmeling, and she preceded him in death on November 29, 1993. Edward was a Group Sergeant Major of the 10th Air Depot group during WWII on the European front. He was awarded the Bronze Star. He worked as a head grocery buyer for Kroger Company, and later was manager at News Depot. In 1970, he was founder and owner of the Hallmark Card and Book Shop in the Hamilton West Plaza. He was a charter member of Sacred Heart Church.
Survivors include five children, Mary Beth (Joseph) Schmitz of Cincinnati, Bob (Sharon) Grebner of Hamilton, Tom (Millie) Grebner of Beavercreek, Dorothy (Shawn) McCune of Grandville, MI, Barbara (Robert) Piepmeyer of Lebanon; seventeen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Schneider of California; special nephew, Tom Steelman.
Besides his wife Anna Mae, and his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Grebner in infancy; a brother, William Grebner.
Prayers will be offered at 1pm Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton, OH followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30pm Saturday in Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Road, Fairfield, Ohio. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00pm Saturday in the funeral home. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum.
