Keating, Edward T. M.D.

Keating, Edward T. M.D., 93, of Hamilton died Wednesday, September 07, 2005 at 6:40 a.m. in The Fort Hamilton Hospital. He was born on January 28, 1912, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Edward J. and Honore (Tracey) Keating. He attended St. Mary's School and was a 1929 graduate of Campion High School. He graduated from Xavier University in 1932 and from the Ohio State Medical School in 1936. On March 11, 1941, in St. Mary's Church, he married Margaret Dunmyer and she preceded him in death on December 27, 1991. Dr. Keating was commissioned to the Army Air Force in May 1942 where he served as a squadron flight surgeon. He served in Europe during World War II, for twenty-six months and was awarded six battle stars and the Soldiers Medal for heroic actions. Upon his discharge in 1945 he returned to Hamilton and began his medical career, retiring in 1980. In addition to his private medical practice, he served the community as a member of the Butler County, Ohio, and American Medical Associations. He was a member of St. Peter in Chains Church. Dr. Keating was the first Medical Director of Schroeder Manor, member and past president of The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, member of The Knights of Columbus, The Elks.

He is survived by his children; Kathy (Denny) Walsh of Hamilton, Ed Keating, Jr. of Hamilton, Patty (Tony) Soriano of Morris Plains, NJ, and Joe (Linda) Keating of Hamilton; Fourteen grandchildren, Katie (Jason) Crank, Meg (Ryan) Munafo, Emily (Danny) Offill, Tim Walsh, Tyra, Tracey, and Kaitlyn Keating, Brian, Jeffrey, Christina, and Matthew Soriano, Kara, Patrick, and Kevin Keating; three Great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Colin Crank and Zachary Munafo; two sisters-in-law, Alice Fiehrer and Lucille Keating; a brother-in-law, Paul and wife Alice Jean Dunmyer. Besides his wife he was also preceded in death by a brother, Tom Keating; four sisters, Bessie, Edna, Marie, and Helen Keating; and two brothers-in-law, Art Fiehrer and Richard Dunmyer.

Prayers will be offered at 9:30AM Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM Saturday in St. Peter in Chains Church, with Rev. Timothy Bunch officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8PM Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
