Bowden, Elaine Rita (Pfirrman), age 82, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday,
November 14, 2006. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on June 7, 1924, the daughter of
Louis and Marie (Zettler) Pfirrman. She was married to the love of her life, Edward J,
Bowden on June 7, 1947 he preceded her in death on July 21, 1978. She was educated at
St. Stephen's School and Hamilton High School Elaine was very active in Post 138
American Legion Auxiliary holding many offices including President and Girls State
Coordinator. She was also active in the 8/40 Honor Society of the American Legion
Auxiliary and was a lifelong member of St. Julie Billiart Church. Elaine was employed
by the Ford Motor Co during WWII. She worked in the family business "Lou's Place"
for many years until it was sold.
She is survived by four children, Marcia (James) Frazier, Edward R. (Beth) Bowden,
Mark Bowden and Melissa Bowden; Thirteen grandchildren, Greg Tendam, Jennifer
(Donald) Johnson, Teri, Kevin, and Kendra Tendam, Maggie (Matthew) Day, Joseph,
Andrew, Amanda, Angela, Paige, Alexander, and William Bowden; six great
grandchildren, Elanie Tendam, Austin Johnson, Nick, Jason, Kyle and Adam Tendam;
One sister, Peggy (Howard) Hetterich and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her "baby girl" Kathy. Grandson Kyle Tendam, special aunt, Marge Zettler, two brothers George "Pete" Pfirrman and Robert Pfirrman. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend thanks and appreciation to Dr. Richard Zettler, the wonderful and compassionate people of Vitas Hospice Care, and family and friends for their loving care and prayers.
Prayers will be offered 12:30PM Friday, November 17 at Zettler Funeral Home, 2646
Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial 1:00 PM Friday, at St. Julie Billiart
Church, with Rev. William Wagner officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-
8PM at the funeral home, with American Legion Auxiliary services at 7:30PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Stephen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to Vitas Hospice Care or Alzheimer Research Center or Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
