MERGY, Elizabeth "Betty", age 104 of Liberty Township, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on August 23, 1905 the daughter of Fred and Wilhelmena (Grimm) Zang and was educated at St. Stephen School. On June 27, 1942 in St. Stephen Church, she married Leo Mergy and he preceded her in death on October 25, 1948. Mrs. Mergy had worked as a paper sorter for Champion Paper Company for over twenty years, retiring in 1968. She was a member of St. Ann Church and enjoyed playing Bingo as well as time spent with family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet and husband Tom Grohal, of Liberty Township; three grandchildren, Theresa (Andy) Baumgartner, of Fairfield, Gregory Grohal, of Hamilton, and Julie (Rick) Whitaker, of Hanover Township, two great grandchildren, Kari and Kyle Baumgartner; numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Grohal in infancy; a brother, Louis Zang; five sisters, Marie Barnhorn, Matilda Rommel, Rosalia Weisbrodt, Clara Miller, and Frances Zang.

Prayers will be offered at 9:30am Wednesday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Wednesday in St. Julie Billiart Church with Fr.
