George David
Brown
October 27, 1944 – January 5, 2022
We are heartbroken to share the news that George D. Brown, age 77, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on October 27, 1944, the son of Andrew and Marie (Schmitt) Brown. On September 27, 1969, in St. Ann Church, he married Linda Sue McCoy. George had worked as a pipefitter for Champion Paper Co for forty-two years. He was a member of St. Ann Church, M.M.A.S, Middletown Moose # 501, Eagles # 407, and the American Legion Post 138. His family is so proud of him and admire the courage he showed during his final moments—he truly fought until the very end. He will be missed by his family and friends immensely and never forgotten.
First and foremost, George was a family man. He was there for every important moment in the lives of his daughters and his grandkids; he could be found at soccer games, dance recitals, baseball games, school graduations, and countless events in between. George also loved watching the Game Show Network, cheering on the Reds, supporting the Bengals, and buying scratch-off tickets (even though he very rarely won). In his younger days, George was a knockout pitcher and quite the stud. He was the kindest soul to all and could always be found with a smile on his face. Anyone who was lucky enough to meet George knows that his heart was filled with nothing but love, whose compassion knew no bounds.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Linda; four daughters, Lisa (Charles) Cruea, Sheila (Andy) Brown, Johanna (Seth) McClain, Kelly (Mike) Henslee; six grandchildren, Carley, Katie, Cailey, Zaya, Calleigh, Zaylynn; a sister, Mary Ann (Dave) Forrester; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1956; his mother in 1999; his brother Clarence Brown in 2018; his Mother and Father in law, Leroy and Betty McCoy; sister in law, Brenda Asher.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm-8:00pm Tuesday January 11, 2022 in Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant ave. Memorials are suggested to U.C. Cancer Institute using the link www.uchealth.com/foundation/donation/ . Prayers will be offered at 9:30am Wednesday January 12, 2022 in the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Wednesday in St. Ann Church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park with full military honors.
