October 21, 1947 – June 14, 2024
Gerald V. Burns age 76 of Hamilton, Ohio passed away Friday June 14, 2024 at Gateway Springs Health Campus. He was born in Springdale, Ohio on October 21, 1947 the son of Robert F. and Marie E. (Shroyer) Burns. On June 27, 1970, in Sacred Heart Church, he married Louise V. Kollstedt.
Survivors include his wife , Louise; two children, Christopher Burns (Daphnee Dion) and Laura (Matthew) Hennigan; five grandchildren, Brody, Maple Anne, and Bexlie Burns, Eleanor and Lucy Hennigan; A brother, Robert W. Burns; two sisters, Pat Vaughn and Jeannie Lange; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Burns.
Jerry graduated from Fairfield High School class of 1965 and the University of Cincinnati in 1973. He served in the US Army from 1966-1968 and was stationed in Korea along the DMZ. He was chosen to be the Company Clerk of the Remington Raiders. After graduation from UC he went to work at Cincinnati Bell and later was transferred to Cincinnati Bell Information System Inc. as a manager. The new company provided data software design and data processing services worldwide. The family enjoyed years of overseas travel to London, England and Melbourne, Australia.
Jerry loved sports throughout his life. He was active in baseball, football, softball and golf. Many thanks to the Beckman brothers and the Moose Golf League members for giving him one last year of golf. Thank you to all family and friends for their support and prayers, and thanks to the staff at Perkins. Jerry loved his pancakes.
