WIRTZ, Gerald M. age 79 of Fairfield passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at his home. He was born in Brookville, Indiana on October 5, 1936, the son of Edward and Cecilia (Kruthaupt) Wirtz and was a 1955 graduate of Greenhills High School. On June 21, 1958, in St. Peter in Chains Church he married Patricia L. Schneider. Mr. Wirtz was a member of Sacred Heart Church.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; three children, Jennifer (David) Krabacher, Jill (William) Richards, and Gerald II "Jay" (Angie) Wirtz; ten grandchildren, Vicki (Jim) McQuiddy, Amy (Eli) O'Connell, Katie (Matt) Morrisette, Ryan Richards, Nick Krabacher, Adam Richards, Jessica (Michael) Lehman, Julie Wirtz, Maria Richards and Eric Richards; six great- grandchildren, Elwin Morrisette, Cici O'Connell, Aycen Lehman, Caleb McQuiddy, Isabelle Morrisette, and Molly O'Connell, with two more on the way; three brothers, Charles (Debbie), Dan (Leslie) and Rick (Michelle) Wirtz; a sister, Judy (Bob) Kuhl.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Wirtz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00AM Monday in the Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant. Visitation will be from 5-7:00PM Sunday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Mesothelioma Research, or the charity of donor's choice.
