McCaffrey, Gertrude E. "Gertie" age 90 of Hamilton died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on August 14, 1922, the daughter of George B. and Marie (Goefft) Burkart. She was a 1940 graduate of Notre Dame High School and was very honored to be selected as May queen her senior year. On October 20, 1951, in St. Ann Church she married Donald P. McCaffrey and he preceded her in death on March 23, 2012. Mrs. McCaffrey was a life long member of St. Ann Church. She was a retired employee of Ohio Casualty Insurance Company.

Survivors include three children, Mike (Tricia) McCaffrey of Liberty Township, Ohio, Diane (Doug) Sheldon of Somerville, Ohio, and Pat (Cathy) McCaffrey of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Shane (Angie) Sheldon, Jordan (Rachelle) Sheldon, Hannah (Matt) Nixon, and Don McCaffrey; two great-grandchildren, Cooper Nixon and Blayze Sheldon.

Besides her husband, Donald, she was also preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Giuliano, Helen Schmitt, Lucille Reiter, and Rita Klinzing.

Prayers will be offered at 11:30 am Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon in St. Ann Church with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 pm Wednesday in the funeral home. Online register book available at www.zettlerfuneralhome.com
