Harris Ulises
Franco Gonzalez
November 1, 1953 – January 19, 2026
Harris Ulises Franco Gonzalez, age 72, of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026. He was born on November 1, 1953, in Caracas, Venezuela, the beloved son of Leopoldo Franco and Elvira Gonzalez.
He is survived by his wife, Beatriz E. Lujan; his children, Maria Lucia Franco de Putney (Jeremy) and Maria Virginia Franco Lujan (Carlos); his cherished granddaughter, Corina C. Putney-Franco; his six siblings; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harris was a loving husband, devoted father, and a proud "Tito," the role that brought him endless joy through his granddaughter, Corina. He had a natural charm and a smile that could brighten any room. Whether dancing merengue like no other, gathered around a domino table with friends and family, or grilling barbecues while serving drinks and making sure everyone was having a great time, Harris loved being a good host.
He was known for his playful and mischievous spirit, which stayed with him throughout his life—from riding his motorcycle in his younger years to sneaking a playful pinch to his wife for one more smile in pictures, even in his final days. Harris showed his love through action: driving through the night to support Lucia, faithfully sitting beside Virginia in a hospital bed after a long international flight, giving thoughtful gifts, and always being present when it mattered most.
Harris deeply loved his siblings, nieces, and nephews. He shared a special bond with his brothers and sisters—Moraima, Leopoldo, Altagracia, María Teresa, Halvor, and Franklin—and took great pride in his extended family. A man of strong Catholic faith, Harris prayed for his loved ones daily, kept their photographs close, and delighted in telling stories about them. He often repeated his father's guiding words, "espera lo mejor, prepárate para lo peor," a phrase that reflected his steady faith, wisdom, and outlook on life.
A retired civil engineer, Harris spent his career in the construction industry and was known for his skill, precision, and pursuit of excellence. He enjoyed fixing things and took pride in building and creating a true home for his family in Merida. In the United States, he lovingly upgraded his home with great care and taste, reflecting both his craftsmanship and his desire to provide comfort and beauty for those he loved. He worked until his last day, always striving for perfection.
Harris loved singing "My Way" by Frank Sinatra, a song he felt represented him well—a life lived with independence, dedication, and heart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated to honor Harris's life—a life defined by faith, love, laughter, generosity, and memories that will live on in all who knew him. Mass will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC on Tues., Feb. 3rd 2026 at 1pm. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
