SCHRAER, Jack Donald was born on March 11, 1934, in Newport, Kentucky the son of George and Viola (Schmitt) Schraer. He passed away on February 10, 2020 in Hamilton, Ohio at the age of 85. Jack married Marcia Ann Wuestefeld on July 6, 1968. They enjoyed 51 happy years of marriage. Together they had four children: Christopher (Stephanie) Schraer, David Schraer, Robert (Amy) Schraer, and Amy (Michael) Ebben. They have three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His son, David Andrew Schraer predeceased Jack. Jack had an interesting life. He grew up in Newport/Dayton, Kentucky and had worked from age 6: newsboy (sells newspapers on a street corner), bowling pinsetter, paperboy (delivers newspapers), golf caddie, and USPS letter carrier. Jack graduated from Newport High School where he played football. He was drafted into the US Army and served in Korea as the war was winding down. After marriage, Jack attended classes and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor's degree. Jack worked as a transportation analyst for Chessie System (Railroad). After the office in Cincinnati closed, he and his family moved to Hamilton, Ohio where he worked for Champion International Paper Company where he worked until retirement. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed travelling around the United States. Jack had many friends. He enjoyed volunteering and playing golf. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St Peters in Chains Church, and Sacred Heart Church. In later years, he enjoyed going to Reds games with friends. He was a great husband and father. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking with friends and family. All of us will sorely miss him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Friday in Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Rd. Fairfield, Ohio with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant followed by burial in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30am Friday in the narthex of church.
