CURTIS, James E., age 86 of Fairfield, died Tuesday April 1, 2008 at Mercy Franciscan Terrace, Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 25, 1921 the son of George and Kathryn (Schilwachter) Curtis and was a 1939 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School. He served in the US Navy during WWII. On October 8, 1949, in Hamilton, he married Elaine L. Zimmerman and she preceded him in death on March 17, 2007. Mr. Curtis had worked in quality control for General Motors Fisher Body Plant, for thirty-nine years, retiring in 1986. A member of Sacred Heart Church, he also had been a Fairfield Youth Baseball coach for twelve years, and a member of the V.F.W. Post #1069.
Survivors include; four children, Robert (Ann) Curtis, of California, Dr. Don Curtis, of Toledo, OH, Dave (Terry) Curtis, of Richmond, VA, and Cathy (Tom) Green, of Cincinnati, OH; ten grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Schuster, and Mary Wagner; a brother, Tommy Curtis.
Prayers will be offered at 10:30 am Monday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am Monday in Sacred Heart Church, Fairfield.
