DAUGHERTY, James R. age 72 of Fairfield, died Monday evening January 10, 2011 in Hospice of Hamilton. He was born in Hamilton Ohio on February 26, 1938 the son of Matthew L. and Leora E. (Martin) Daugherty. A 1956 graduate of Hamilton High School, Mr. Daugherty served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1959. On March 28, 1959 in Hamilton he married Illa Phelps. He worked as a Quality Control Manager for Kirk & Blum Manufacturing, for over forty-two years, retiring in 2003. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Jim also enjoyed several hobbies including fishing, woodworking and walking.
Survivors include his wife, Illa; three children, David R. (Mary) Daugherty, of Hawaii, Lynne Daugherty Barnes, of Fairfield, and Michelle (Tom) Becker, of Liberty TWP; four grandchildren, Erika and Ryan Barnes, Seth and Matthew Daugherty; many other loving relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Bob Daugherty; two sisters, Betty Balok, and Alice Steiger.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave, with Pastor Larry Bussard officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11:00am Saturday in the funeral home. Entombment with Military Honors will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
