June 6, 1920 – April 26, 2014
DURROUGH, James D. age 93 of Hamilton, died Saturday April 26, 2014 at his home. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on June 6, 1920 the son of James and Eleanora (Stesch) Durrough and was a 1938 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School. Mr. Durrough served in the US Army during WWII. On May 11, 1943 in St. Ann Church he married Anna Barbara Shalloe and she preceded him in death on July 1, 1997. He had worked as an insurance salesman for Western and Southern Life Insurance Company, for over thirty years, retiring in 1982. A member of St. Ann Church, he also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Butler Council and the VFW Post # 1069. Jim remained active by playing tennis at the Mercy Health Plex and golf and horseshoes with family and friends.
Survivors include four sons, James M. Durrough, of Los Angeles, California, Mark E. Durrough, of Cincinnati, Thomas (Kathleen) Durrough, of Cincinnati, and William A. Durrough, of Hamilton; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Nikki Sendler, of Miami, Florida; a special friend, Melanie Miller.
Besides his wife Barbara he was also preceded in death by a son, Robert B. Durrough in 2009.
Prayers will be offered at 9:30am Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Thursday in St. Ann Church with Father Larry Tharp celebrant. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday in the funeral home with Knights of Columbus services at 7:30pm. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum.
