SOUTH, James E. age 78 of Hamilton passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 24, 1939, the son of Edward H. and Catherine (Forberg) South. On January 31, 1959, in Jellico, Tennessee, he married Joan C. Price. James was a member of St. Ann Church, the Monkey Mutual Aid Society, and the American Legion Post #138.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; three children, Barbara (Charles) Gaynor of Hamilton, Rebecca (Doug) Conway of Cincinnati, and David (Diane) South of Oxford; five grandchildren, Sarah (Randy) Worley, Andrew (Jennifer) Gaynor, Lindsay (John) Novak, Christina (Dillon) Lathery, and Lauren (Benjamin) George; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Gloria) South; in-laws, Judy (William) Wright, Paulette (Dan) Phillips, Kenneth (Sally) Price, Denise (Bud) Hurst, James (Julie) Price, and Gloria (Scott) Hawkins; life long friends, James Wroot and Ron Verdin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father in law, Paul and Gwendolyn Price; a sister, Lorraine Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11:00AM Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hamilton, 1010 Eaton Ave. Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
