TRACY, James L. "Jim", age 79 of Fairfield, died Thursday, November 30, 2006 at his home. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 17, 1927, the son of Stephen X. and Elizabeth (Dougherty) Tracy and was a graduate of North Catholic High School, in Philadelphia, and Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH. Mr. Tracy served in the US Navy, during WWII, and played professional baseball in the minor league systems of the Phillies and New York Giants from 1947-1952. He was Supervisor of Budgeting Operations for Mosler Hamilton Manufacturing from 1956 through 1990, as well as serving as income tax administrator, for the City of Fairfield, for fifteen years. Later, he was employed by Dittman-Adams, for five years. A member of Sacred Heart Church, he also was a member of the K of C Father Butler Council and the B.P.O. E # 93.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Ginny; three sons, James E. (Debbie) Tracy, Pittsburgh, PA, Thomas (Kathy) Tracy, and Michael D. Tracy, both of Fairfield; nine grandchildren, Julia, Brian, Chad, Kelly, Mark, Jonathan, Nicole, Michael, and Jenna Tracy; a brother, Stephen X. Tracy II, of Philadelphia, PA; three nephews; other relatives and friends.
Prayers will be offered at 10:30AM Monday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM Monday in Sacred Heart Church, followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
