Obituary

Werk, James "Turk" age 80 of Middletown passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on October 31, 1940 the son of James H. Werk and Irma E. (Hendel) Werk. Jim's high school basketball career secured him a full four year scholarship at Eastern Kentucky University. He had to compete against 18 men to secure one of the only two positions available. He had a long career as a steel roller, working the "Hot Strip" first at Armco Steel, then Later at AK Steel. Jim loved his family dearly and was a proud to be a great-great-grandfather. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Jim is survived by his children, Leslie Markijohn, Suzanne Werk, Coree Werk, Roxanne Chapman, and Doug Evans; sisters, Gloria K. Pieratt, and Lynn (John) Dane; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Helen; his parents; and 2 sons, George Evans and Kevin Evans.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, July 12, 2021 at the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton, OH 45015. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday July 13, 2021, at the funeral home with Dale Werk and Fr. Larry Tharp officiants. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
