WHEATLEY, James R. age 66, of Fairfield passed away Monday, November 16, 2009, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana. Jim was born at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on March 4, 1943, to Eugene E. and Ethel (Streibig) Wheatley. He attended Garfield High School graduating in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 as a Supply Clerk in Okinawa, supplying troops in Viet-Nam. Jim married Barbara Bier in August of 1969, and they celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage this year. Jim was a devoted father to his son, Scott E. Wheatley of Tuscon, Arizona. Jim worked for General Motors for 40 years. He worked at the Hamilton Fisher Body Plant for 25 years serving as Packaging Engineer and Traffic Manager until 1987. He then transferred to the Van Nuys, California Plant until 1993. He transferred to the Marion, Indiana Plant where he retired in 2001.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara of Fairfield; son, Scott of Tuscon, Arizona; sister, Marilyn (William) Bailey of Fairfield; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Wheatley of Fairfield; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Kenneth E. Wheatley.

Funeral Services will be offered at 1:00PM Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by burial in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be from 5-8:00PM Friday in the funeral home.
