KEYES, Janet E. age 80 of Fairfield, Ohio passed away at home Wednesday, July 6, 2022 surrounded by
her family. Janet was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 16, 1941, the daughter of Charles and Katherine
(Henne) Kuntz. She graduated from Our Lady of Mercy grade school and Julienne High School in Dayton. She earned a double major in English and French from the University of Dayton and taught at the high school level following her graduation. She met the love of her life and spouse of 57 years at her father's restaurant, The Catalpa Inn in Dayton. On June 12, 1965 in Dayton, Ohio she married Frederick A. Keyes at Our Lady of Mercy.
While Janet enjoyed many occupations, her true calling was one of a dedicated wife, mother,
grandmother, and great grandmother. Her faith and her family always came first. She is the proud mother of six children: Kimberly (Brian) Martin, Kelly (Scott) Manley, Frederick (Audrey) Keyes Jr., Kristin (Mark) Sams, Kendra (Jim) Anglin, and Kevin (Stephanie) Keyes. She embraced her in laws and their families as if they were her own. She took great pride in her sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Justin (Alyssa), Brandon (Hannah), Darrin, Nick, Katie, Lauren, Tyler, Ainsley, Colin, Ryan, Drew, Liam, Grace, George, Charlie, Nora, Kayleigh, Mavrick, Colton, Holden, and Arlo. Other survivors include a brother, Dr. Charles (Marilyn) Kuntz and a sister, Carol (Greg) Westbrock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband's parents, a beloved Aunt Dorothy Henne, her Godson Dr. Charles Kuntz, IV, and a great grandchild, Lawson Martin.
To her family, Janet was a pillar of strength. She was the greatest supporter and a constant source of
love for her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, and exercising her many artistic
talents. She cherished all of the memories she shared with her family and friends at their lake house in
Williamstown, KY. She was a caregiver for her own father who suffered with Alzheimer's Disease and
later bravely fought the disease herself with the help of her husband, her children, and her dear
granddaughter and caregiver, Lauren Manley.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8pm Monday, July 11, 2022, in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. Prayers will be offered at 11:30am Tuesday, July 12, 2022, in the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12noon, in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Cincinnati at alz.org/Cincinnati. Online register book available at
