Obituary

McCARTY, Jay R. age 53 of Fairfield died Monday, August 06, 2012, at Hospice of Cincinnati. He was born in Staten Island, New York on August 28, 1958, the son of Jason and Maureen (Nolan) McCarty, and was a 1976 graduate of Fairfield High School. Mr. McCarty was a graduate of Miami University, Oxford Ohio 1976-1978 with a degree in Business Administration. He received his State of Ohio Health, Life and Variable Life Insurance License from the American College CLU Designation in October 1994. On November 19, 1988, in Sacred Heart Church he married Elizabeth A. Hine. Jay was currently employed by Fifth Third Bank as an Investment Executive. He worked for US Bancorp Investments as Vice President, Financial Advisor from February 1998 until March 2010, Wilkes Insurance as an Insurance Agent from January 1992 until December 1997, and he worked at CAN Financial as an Insurance Specialist from January 1989 until January 1992. Some of Jay's professional accomplishments include US Bancorp Investments President's Club from 1998 – 2005, he often said this was the most rewarding since he competed against larger markets like Chicago, Denver and LA. IT often listed him in the top 15% for the company even though he was from little old Hamilton. He always made sure his name tag said Hamilton not Cincinnati. In 1997, Humana Health Insurance Company he was in the Elite Producer's Club. 1993 -1995 the Cincinnati Insurance Company awarded him as Key Producer.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, parish council, and a committee member of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. Jay was president of the Downtown Hamilton Merchants Association & Board Member for the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, he was one of few that pushed to create the 4 Special Improvement District, RE-Discover Hamilton. Mr. McCarty was Advisory Board Member for Schroeder Manor Retirement Center, chairman for Steering Committee, Hamilton School Levy Campaign.

He was also responsible for several community events. As a member of the Mayor's Cabinet of Citizens he headed the committees to bring the Replica of the Vietnam Moving Wall to Miami's Hamilton Branch. Jay hosted a historic Flag Display at the soldiers and Sailors Monument, created a Holiday Train Display for Downtown Hamilton and with The Elks Lodge #93 ran a High School Golf Tournament that raised money for the Boys/girls club of Hamilton. He enjoyed playing sports, an avid golfer; he also coached SAY Soccer and CYO basketball, AAU Basketball. Later on he became a fan of Cross Country running in particular the Sacred Heart and Moeller High School Teams.

Survivors include his wife, Beth; two sons, Matthew and Patrick McCarty; his mother, Maureen Shoemaker; two sisters, Barbara (Ramon) McCarty-Garcia and Donna (Shawn) Cutrell; an aunt, Mary Nolan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jason McCarty; an uncle, Richard Nolan.

Prayers will be offered at 9:30 am Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am Saturday in Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 pm Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
