COLEMAN, John A. age 90 of Fairfield, Ohio, died Friday, February 15, 2008 in Hospice of Hamilton in Sunrise Assisted Living Center. He was born in Anderson, Indiana on December 24, 1917 the son of Fred and Marie (Eisner) Coleman. On April 16, 1938 in Covington, Kentucky, he married Hazel M. Pater and she preceded him in death on November 6, 1998. On November 3, 2001 he was married to Frances (Brown) Spradling. Mr. Coleman served a year in the Civilian Conservation Corp, from 1934-1935. He had worked as a carpenter/millwright through the UBC Local # 1066 of which he was the oldest living member. He was a life member of the L.O.O.M. # 36 of Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; three children, Marilyn (Raymond) Whisman, Gerry (Hobert) Saylor and Doll (Coleman) Reuteman, all of Fairfield; eight grandchildren, Rhett (Colleen) and Dane Whisman, Jody (Jimmy) Miller, Stephanie Wolford, Christopher Saylor, Bryan Goins, Hunter and Hayley Coleman; great grandchildren; Caleb Whisman, Brent Eve, and Lantz Wolford; two sisters, Eleanor Payne, Thelma McClung; three stepsons, Greg, Jeff (Jamie) , and Tim Spradling; a step daughter, Marilou (Dan) Werrell; eight step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
Besides his first wife, Hazel, he was also preceded in death by his son, Johnnie A. Coleman Jr. in 2004; and three sisters, Patty Gillespie and Margaret Bridge and Helen Mae Britz.
As a tribute to John, his family requests that you take the time to make memories with your loved ones, spend time together, hug each other, love one another, do a kind deed for someone, and thank God for your blessings.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Tuesday in the Winton Road 1st Church of God, 6200 Winton Rd. Fairfield, Ohio, followed by burial in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be from 5-8:00pm Monday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. and from 9:30-10:00am Tuesday at church. Online register book at www.zettlerfuneralhome.com
