Obituary

DeFazio, John V. age 91 of Hamilton, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at his home. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on January 20, 1920, the son of James V. and Mary Rose (Falconi) DeFazio. John was a graduate of St. Mary Grade School and Hamilton Catholic High School and served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. In 1942, he married Louise Antes and she preceded him in death in 1968. In 1971, he married Mabel Harshbarger and she preceded him in death in 2006. He worked as a pattern maker for Buckeye Pattern and later Fisher Body Hamilton Plant, retiring in 1984. An active member of St. Peter in Chains Church, he was a lay minister, lector, past parish council member and a member of the St. Peter School P.T.A. John was a member of the K of C Father Butler Council, the D.A.V. and had been a Eucharist Minister to Ft. Hamilton Hospital.

Survivors include five sons, Michael J., Dr. John Jr., James E., Dr. Daniel L., and Robert G. DeFazio; three daughters, Marianne Marsh, Rita DeFazio, and Nancy Brancheau; eighteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a sister Rita Yokers.

Besides his wives he was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Prayers will be offered at 9:30am Monday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am Monday in St. Peter in Chains Church, with Fr. Timothy Bunch Celebrant. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00pm Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Online register book available at www.zettlerfuneralhome.com
