HELD, John L. age 99 of Hamilton passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 8, 1918, the son of Louis and Mary Held and was a veteran of the United States Army Aircorp having served in WWII. On January 18, 1947, in Louisville, KY he married Charlotte Ann Schmid and she preceded him in death on September 30, 1978. Mr. Held worked as a security guard for Ford Motor Company in Sharonville for 33 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Ann Church, was a championship bowler with the P.A.C. league, and had been a coach for many years in Lindenwald Baseball League.

Survivors include two sons, John Held Jr. and George (Rita) Held; three daughters, Mary Judith Held, Anna (David) Gedeon, and Betty (Tom) Goins; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a special friend, Ethel Robertson.

Besides his wife, Charlotte, he was also preceded in death by a son, Charles E. Held on October 16, 1978; a great-grandchild, Kayden Held.

The family would like to express a special thank you to John's 9 caregivers who allowed him to stay in his home up until his death.

Prayers will be offered at 9:30am Tuesday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Tuesday in St. Ann Church with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant.
