PETERSEN, John C. age 84 of Fairfield, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 in Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. He was born in Port Clinton, Ohio on October 27, 1925 the son of Christ and Lucy (McRitchie) Petersen and graduated from Port Clinton High School with the class of 1943. John served in the US Army Air Corp during WW II and later attended Toledo University earning a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. On November 25, 1950 he married his college sweetheart, Romilda Braun and they lived together as husband and wife for fifty-nine years in the Hamilton/Fairfield area. John had worked as an electrical engineer for National Lead, for thirty years, retiring in 1993. In the past he had enjoyed square and round dancing with the Hayloft Square Dancing Club, and had been a member of the Lions Club. More recently he was active in the Tri-State Travelers and the Fairfield Community Senior Center.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Romilda; six daughters, Debby (Gary) Fox, of Fairfield, Patricia Bown, of Hamilton, Pamela Petersen, of Cincinnati, Tari (Jim) Thomas, of Fairfield, and Barbara Herrick, of Cincinnati; his son, Kevin (Debbie Howe) Petersen, of Fairfield; nine grandchildren, Heather (Bob) Kellum, Steven (Anne Camery) Fox, Joshua (Kimberly Moore) Petersen, Rachael (Mark) Grile, Brent Fox, Courtney Petersen, Danielle Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Jared Howe; five great grandchildren, Lilly and Elijah Kellum, Caitlyn Fox, Tyler Delano, and Dylan Fox; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Robert Petersen; a sister, Lois Karshuk; a granddaughter, Katelyn Marie Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. with Dr. John H. H. Lewis officiating, followed by burial in St. Stephen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Wednesday and from 10-11:00am Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
