McLaughlin, Jonathan Mark age 39 of Liberty Township, Ohio passed away Monday August 14, 2023. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 16, 1984, the son of Daniel and Barbara (Barbee) McLaughlin. On October 9, 2009 in St. Julie Billiart Church he married Lindsay Y. Riegert. Jon was a veteran, serving in the United States Army 82nd Airborne division.
Jonathan "Jon" McLaughlin was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised on his family farm in Pricetown. Jon's roots were embedded in the soil of the country. He spent his childhood bailing hay, exploring the woods, riding tractors, and racing across the fields on four-wheelers, embodying the spirit of simple country living.
A proud alumnus of Lynchburg Clay High School, Jon was known for his hardworking nature and quick wittiness. Following his graduation, Jon courageously served his country as a member of the prestigious 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan. He was honorably discharged in 2009, bringing home not just commendations but invaluable life experiences that shaped his future endeavors.
Following his military service Jon met the love of his life, Lindsay and later became a proud father to 5 beautiful children. Together they embarked on a successful entrepreneurial journey. He was a self-starter. engaged with multiple business ventures, employing his unique ability to fix anything and everything. He began his reputation as a "Mr. Fix-It," and became a renovation guru.
Jon loved traveling, creating memories in new locations, exploring new wineries and breweries,and sharing these experiences with his adored family. He had a passion for boating, with the open water serving as his sanctuary. Jon also had a love for history, often visiting war battlefields to pay his respects and learn from the past.
Known for his love to cook. Jon could always be counted on to make original drink concoctions and delicious meals for his family. He passed his culinary skills on to his kids as you can always find them helping in the kitchen. He loved watching his children engage in all their various activities and was always one of their biggest cheerleaders.
Jon had many passions in life that he loved to share with his family and friends. Partying in any situation and just having a good time was always essential. He loved shooting guns, being outside, rating cheeseburgers, making things work, and fishing with the kids. The water was his happy place whether it was on the lake or in the ocean.
In his passing, Jon leaves behind a legacy of hard work, service, entrepreneurship, and above all, love for family. He was a devoted family man and his spirit will forever resonate in the laughter of his children, the businesses he built, in the waves of his favorite lakes, and in the hearts of all who knew him. We will forever remember Jon for his devotion to his family, his courage and always being a proud countryman. May he rest in peace.
Survivors include his wife, Lindsay; Parents Daniel and Barbara McLaughlin; in-laws, Tim and Connie Riegert; five children, Eli, Max "Moose", Evie, Joey, and Ty McLaughlin; two brothers, Scott (Stephanie) McLaughlin and Jason (Sara) McLaughlin, Nephews Eric, Quinn, and Owen Mclaughlin, and nieces Katie, Ava, and Becca Mclaughlin. Brother-in-law Ryan (Leah) Riegert, and niece Eloise.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00PM Friday August 18, 2023, in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. Hamilton, Ohio 45015. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, August 19, 2023, in St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 5720 Hamilton Mason Rd. Liberty Township, Ohio 45011. Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Hamilton, Ohio with Military Honors.
