Obituary

Joseph G. Archdeacon age 84 of Colerain Twp. Ohio passed away Saturday November
9, 2024 at Bethesda North Hospital. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on September 24, 1940, the
son of Joseph John II and Clara (Lagedrost) Archdeacon.
Joe grew up in Hamilton, the oldest of 4 boys. His favorite sport to play was football. He initially
attended Hamilton Catholic High School, but later transferred and graduated from Hamilton High
School. Joe went on to study at Xavier University where he graduated at the top of his class
with a degree in accounting. Joe worked as an accountant, auditor, and state examiner with
history of employment with Union Central Life Insurance, State of Ohio, and State of Alabama. In
his young adult years, Joe was a radio announcer for WMOH, going by the name of Joe
Mcquade. His voice was so distinct that it would continue to be recognized years later by some
as that of Joe Mcquade.
Joe married Karen Sue Posey on September 2, 1967 at St. Stephen Church. They had 7
children, a stillborn infant, and 5 miscarriages. They had 5 grandchildren. He was a devoted and
loving husband, father, and grandfather who was driven by his faith in God and dedication to
protecting and providing for his family. Joe was selfless. For many years he traveled long hours
for work, such as to NY and Chicago, leaving Monday and returning home Friday, in order to
support his family. He ate frugally and stayed in the cheapest housing available so that his
family could be comfortable. Despite the long drives, he always came home to be with his family
on the weekends. Joe was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church, followed by St. Peter In
Chains Catholic Church, and most recently Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a proud
Marine and a lifelong Knight of Columbus. He was a dedicated advocate for the protection of the
unborn. A devotion which Karen and Joe passed on to their children. Joe especially enjoyed
spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren and took delight in visits with his
grandpuppy, Spike. He enjoyed singing, offering up his stunning voice joyfully in celebration of
our Lord at mass. His voice could often be heard over all the others. He also sang at night clubs
in Columbus and Chicago and would speak about his love for his wife between each song. He
was strong, chivalrous, and a gentleman, qualities which he made a point to instill in his sons.
He was blessed with many gifts and talents, all of which he strived to use to glorify God.
Admirably, in moments of suffering he rarely complained. Joe was happiest surrounded by his
wife and children and practicing his faith.
.
Survivors include; six children, Joseph John Archdeacon III, Brian (Lindsey)
Archdeacon, Marianne Linardos, Daniel Archdeacon, Kristen (Stephen) Schneider, and
Craig Archdeacon; five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his "sweet angels", his beloved wife, Karen Sue (Posey)
Archdeacon on April 12, 2024 and his daughter, Susan Archdeacon in August 7, 2021.
