EICHHOLD, Joseph, age 86 of Hamilton died Thursday April 22, 2010 in his home. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 18, 1923 the son of Eugene and Katherine (Kiffmeyer) Eichhold. Joe served for twenty-one months with the US Army, during WWII in the European
Theater of Operations. He earned five battle campaign ribbons including the Battle of the Bulge and the Brest Campaign. On April 24, 1947 in Hamilton, he married Carolyn L. Beiser and she preceded him in death on July 8, 1990. Mr. Eichhold was Co-Owner and Operator of the Hamilton Taxi and Baggage Company, for forty-two years, retiring in 1989. A member of St. Peter Church, he also was a member of the K of C Father Butler Council.
Survivors include four children, Jo Ann (Ron) Weber, of Northville, Michigan, David (Pam) Eichhold, of Loveland, Ohio, Carol K. Cutfield, of Kenwood, Ohio, and Elizabeth "Betty" Rossi, of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Sarah (Brian) Schabel, Adam Weber, Grant (Elsa Larson) Weber, Chris and Sammy Rossi; a great grandchild, Brooke Schabel; three brothers, Louis "Bud", John "Jake", and Richard "Dick" Eichhold.
Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Charles Cutfield.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave with Fr. Timothy Bunch officiating, followed by burial in St. Stephen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6:00pm Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Mid-Western Children's Home, 4585 Long-Spurling Rd. Pleasant Plain, Ohio 45162.
