MEYER, Julian K. "Dick" age 94 of Fairfield passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born on February 18, 1923, in Hamilton, Ohio the son of John and Marguerite (Schmidt) Meyer. He was educated in St. Ann School and graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School in 1940. He was a veteran of World War II. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy after enlisting in 1942. He was discharged as Aviation Electrician First Class in 1946, after serving in the Pacific for eighteen months. On May 18, 1948, in St. Ann Church he married Jo-Ann Levenson and she preceded him in death on December 10, 2014 after 66 years of marriage. He cherished their five children and was especially devoted to his wife throughout his life. He was employed by the City of Hamilton as a Firefighter from 1952 to 1982 holding the rank of Captain on his retirement. He was a lifelong member of the K. of C. Father Butler Council. Dick attended the Fairfield YMCA regularly for many years. He was an engaging man and always of help to those in need. He loved the outdoors and in his younger years was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed horseshoe pitching.
Survivors include his children, Thomas (Ronalie) Meyer, Janet Dugdale, Nancy (Darrell) Hulshult, and John (Cathy) Meyer; grandchildren, Ben (Andrea), Mark (Jessica), and Michael (Ginny) Hulshult, Todd and Eric Meyer, David Dugdale, and Kelly (Phil) Stoner; thirteen great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Jo-Ann, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia (Allan) Greenweller; sister, Mary Rose; a brother, James Meyer.
Prayers will be offered at 10:30 AM Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Thursday in St. Ann Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 AM Thursday in the funeral home.
