PHIPPS, Katherine M. (Barker) age 95 of Fairfield, Ohio died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Hawthorne Glen. She was born in McGoffin County, Kentucky in 1917, the daughter of John and Rissie (Allen) Barker. In 1937, she married Charles C. Phipps and together they shared 47 years until his death in 1984. A long time resident of Butler County, Katherine enjoyed working at several local grocery stores in Lindenwald, but her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her loving family.

Left to treasure her memory are three sons, David (Sue), Dale (Connie), Bob (Sandy), two daughters, Carol Poppel and Charlotte (Pat) Dougherty; eleven grandchildren, Andrea Poppel, Leslie (Steve) Veldhuis, Jenny Hamon, Julie Phipps, Tami Lydon, Terri (Kevin) Clark, Katie (Justin) Sexton, Wendy (Mark) Wiederhold, Dana Phipps, Karen Darmanie, and Eddie Phipps; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; extended family and many friends.

Katherine is preceded in death by her beloved Charles; her parents; a son, Don; three brothers, Edison, Emerson, and John Jr. Barker; a son-in-law, Gene Poppel.

Katherine was a warm and loving woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hawthorn Glen for their loving care over these last years.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Friday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. with Rev. Edwin R. Beck officiating, followed by burial in Rose Hill Burial Park.
