Kathleen Jean “Kathy” Schneider, age 84, of Hamilton, Ohio passed away Tuesday May 26, 2026 at Gateway Springs Health Campus. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on March 21, 1942, the daughter of William and Mary (Smith) Amiot. On August 31, 1963, in St. Stephen Church, she married William J. “Bill” Schneider. Mrs. Schneider was a member of St. Ann Church.
Kathy was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, but the most important person in her life was the man she married in 1963. Married for over 62 years, she and Bill built a life together bulwarked by their love for each other and their Catholic faith. Throughout Bill’s numerous serious health challenges, Kathy was a rock solid foundation; her dedication to nursing him back to health was the stuff of legends.
Kathy’s great pleasure in life was family, whether that was supporting her children through sporting events, band concerts, flag line performances, going to lunches with the extensive Amiot family relatives, or, later in life, attending sporting events, tae kwon do exhibitions, band performances, musicals, or anything else her grandchildren chose to pursue. She treasured family gatherings for holidays and special occasions, and loved to contribute by making her signature deviled eggs and fruit salad.
In 1977, she and Bill purchased a dream home at Indian Lake, and “going to the lake” became a refuge and a passion through the remainder of her life. They entertained numerous family and friends there, hosted reunions and parties, and most importantly shared a love of boating and togetherness.
Kathy was an avid reader and hobbyist, and demonstrated her creative side through painting, ceramics, candle making, and numerous other hobbies. She was also an avid collector (Precious Moments, Native American artifacts, and jewelry). For better or worse, she passed these traits to her children.
In recent years, she and Bill became regulars at a number of restaurants, and established strong bonds with the employees. You couldn’t help but feel like a local celebrity when you accompanied them and they were greeted like old friends.
Survivors include her husband, William; three children, Bill (Lana) Schneider Jr., Gil Schneider, and Katrina Reynolds; five grandchildren, Amber, Nicole (Tony), Taylor, Katie, and Hannah; and a sister, Joan Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Jimmy, Rosie, Bud, Dorothy, Bobbie, Phyllis, and Tom.
Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 am Tuesday June 2, 2026, in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am Tuesday in St. Ann Church. Online register book at www.zettlerfuneralhome.com.
