Larry
Martin
January 29, 1930 – March 7, 2021
Martin, Lawrence E. Larry, "Rev", 91, resident of Residence of Huntington Court, Hamilton, OH. Larry joined "the love of his life", Helen Jane, in heaven, March 07, 2021. He was in the Air Force for 4 years stationed at Davis-Montham AFB, Tucson, AZ. Larry was a very talented flooring installer, especially with inlay designs. He also enjoyed golf in his younger days.
Preceded in death by his wife, Helen Jane, 2 sons - Bill Gentry and Tim Gentry. Surviving family - daughter - Anita Shivley (Gary), Hamilton, OH, son - Lawrence (Boo) Martin (Billie), Batavia, OH, daughter - Christina (Cris) Albertson (Mike), Greenwood, SC. Grandchildren - Marty Gentry, Andy Gentry, Kenny Gentry, Justin Gentry, Kyle Gentry, Jessica Gentry, Earl Buschard, James Shivley, Crystal Apple, Brian Martin and Alyssa Albertson Abel. He also has 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Larry was a very humble man. He loved his family very much. He loved when everyone in the family got together for one of his "roast beef" suppers. He would grill a big roast, enough for at least 20 people while everyone else brought the sides. He would say "Oh boy, Oh boy, Oh boy" because it was so good. Larry never, and I mean never, met a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor, always ready with a good joke or one of his many great stories. He also had a smile that could brighten up the darkest day.
Larry's biggest passion was the T.C.C., otherwise known as "The Club", that he was co-founder of over 30 years ago. He was very selfless when it came to helping over thousands of people in the Cincinnati area through their recovery. His vision for T.C.C. was to provide a safe facility for those individuals in recovery and a place where they could retain their anonymity. He touched SO many lives through his vision and generosity. He made many contributions to T.C.C. over the years but the one that I think he enjoyed the most was working the Sunday Morning Coffee Bar for over 20 years, earning him the loving nickname "Rev". He also served as trustee many times over the years.
He was an angel in disguise to many, especially his family. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, a kind word or a hug. He will be tremendously missed.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, with a service immediately following the visitation, Friday, April 9, 2021 at Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton, OH.
