WILLIS, Laverne A. age 87 of Hamilton, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the Golden Years Nursing Home. She was born in Patriot, Indiana on December 23, 1926, the daughter of Gordon and Mildred (Sweney) Taggart. On December 15, 1945, in Indiana she married Jefferson W. Willis. Mrs. Willis worked many years at Western Auto in California and moved back to Ohio. She later worked at Miami University from there she retired. She was a very care giving woman, always wanting to help others. Laverne loved working out in her garden and loved to cook for all her family. She was a wonderful and loving woman.

Survivors include three children, Richard Willis, Steven G. Willis, and Vickie Willis; six grandchildren, Michael, David, Robert, Jennifer, Jeffery, and Steven Willis; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence McCarty; three brothers, Melvin (Aretta) Taggart, Frank Taggart, and Clarence "Tim" (Jeanie) Taggart.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of twenty-five years Jefferson; a son, Gary Willis; three brothers, Arthur, Robert, and Gordon Taggart.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Golden Years Nursing Home and the help and care of Tridia Hospice.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. with Pastor Paul Hensley officiating, followed by burial in Millville Cemetery.
