SCHLIESMAN, Mabel E. age 99 of Hamilton, Ohio died Monday, February 23, 2015, at her home. She was born in Middletown, Ohio on March 19, 1915, the daughter of Charles and Mary Edith (Koeppel) Hume. On October 14, 1939, in St. John Catholic Church Middletown, Ohio she married Lenard C. Schliesman and he preceded her death on December 18, 1989, a marriage of 50 years. Mabel was a member of St. Ann Church and the Altar Rosary Society. Mrs. Schliesman had been a poll worker for nearly 20 years, predominately at George Washington Jr. High School and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and bingo.
Survivors include three children, Joy E. Schliesman of Hamilton, David C. (Haruko) Schliesman of Fairfield Township, and Richard (Judith) Schliesman of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Thomas, Nicholas, Matthew (Brandy Tudor) Schliesman, and Jessica (Matthew) Richardson; two great-grandchildren, Alexus Schliesman, and Madilynn Richardson; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Mary Baker.
Besides her husband, Lenard, she was also preceded in death by a son, Frederick T. Schliesman in 1999; three brothers Robert and Paul Hume and (Charles Hume in infancy); two sisters, Agnes Combs and Mary Garitson.
Prayers will be offered at 9:30AM Friday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM Friday in St. Ann Church with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00PM Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Ann Church or Hospice of Hamilton.
