SCHARRINGHAUSEN, Marcella M. age 83 of Fairfield passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018, peacefully at her home. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 9, 1934, the daughter of Robert and Fannie (Pell) Dunham. She married Edward A. Scharringhausen on May 28, 1955 and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Ann Osborne and a brother, Samuel Dunham.
Marcella graduated from Withrow High School in 1953. She was a long time resident of Fairfield, Ohio and an early member of Sacred Heart Church. Marcella was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a dear friend to the many she had the opportunity to meet. She was known best for her love of family and friends, her warm smile and big hugs. Marcella loved family Sunday dinners, family vacations, sitting on the porch with her friends and was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include her three children, Mark Scharringhausen of Fairfield, Ohio, Amy (Tom) McCarthy of Wheaton, IL, and Robert Scharringhausen of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Mallory and Courtney McCarthy; a sister, Charlotte Wissmann.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM Friday January 19 at Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Road, Fairfield, with Fr. Larry Tharp Celebrant. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery immediately following Mass. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30AM Friday in the narthex of the Church. The children of Marcella Scharringhausen will host an open house at Marcella's home (5587 Ponderosa Driver Fairfield, Ohio) on Friday January 19, 2018 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Friends and family are welcome.
