Obituary

LINDSAY, Margaret Pettit, — died on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Berkeley Square Care Facility in Hamilton, Ohio. On June 24,1923, Margaret was born to Casper and Ina (Marshall) Pettit. She was one of six children and remained close to each one of them throughout her life: they include Edward Pettit (deceased), Elnora Pettit Stone, Gene Pettit, Melvin Pettit and Robert Pettit.
Margaret had many friends and enjoyed her youth at Schermers and the roller rink in Hamilton, but her life began when she met her great friend and love Walter Lindsay. They were married on October 23,1947 and remained inseparable for the next sixty years. Their life together included so many happinesses: raising their two children; a meaningful and active spiritual life at the Park Avenue United Methodist Church; travels around the United States with family and friends; and fixing, decorating, and maintaining a home where everyone felt truly welcome—anytime. One of her greatest gifts occurred every summer when she provided a vacation spot in Michigan or Hilton Head or Charleston, South Carolina for her family. We didn't realize at the time how all the laughter would bind us together: we realize it now.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Walter Lindsay who died in January of 2008. She leaves her daughter, Lauren Lindsay Benoit and husband Greg Benoit of Waterford, CT, and son D. Scott Lindsay and wife Connie Schawann Lindsay of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren: Max Benoit, Brooke Lindsay Benoit, Bryce Lindsay, and Sara Lindsay. She also leaves behind many relatives, friends, and colleagues from her years in the Hamilton City School System and the Butler County Nursing School.
Visitation will be held at the Zettler Funeral home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. from 5 -7pm Thursday night and there will be a funeral service at the Park Avenue Methodist Church on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 10:30am. If desired, donations may be sent to The United Methodist Woman's Circle at 800 Park Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45013. Online register book at www.zettlerfuneralhome.com
