SCHMIDT, Margaret Dorothy age 88 of Fairfield passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. Margaret was born on August 14, 1922, in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of John and Martha Pieper. She graduated from St. Ann Elementary School and Hamilton High School. She was employed at the Ford Motor Company Hamilton Plant during World War II, and later worked for Cincinnati Bell Telephone. On November 5, 1949, she married Norbert J. Schmidt at St. Ann Church. She was a member of St. Ann Church and the St. Ann Altar Rosary Society. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother, and a friend to all who met her.

She is survived by two children, Thomas Schmidt of Fairfield and Deborah Colucci of Berea, Ohio; a grandchild, Jennifer McGraw; brother-in-law, Paul Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert; four brothers, John Pieper II, Ray Pieper, Mark Pieper, and Robert Pieper; two sisters, Martha Hahn and Sister Ann de Sales, OSF.

Prayers will be offered at 11:30 am Monday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon Monday in St. Ann Church with Fr. Stephen Mondiek celebrant. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 am Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
